First detection of glycolaldehyde outside the Galactic Center
نویسنده
چکیده
Glycolaldehyde is the simplest of the monosaccharide sugars and is directly linked to the origin of life. We report on the detection of glycolaldehyde (CH2OHCHO) towards the hot molecular core G31.41+0.31 through IRAM PdBI observations at 1.4, 2.1, and 2.9 mm. The CH2OHCHO emission comes from the hottest (≥ 300 K) and densest (≥2×10 cm) region closest (≤ 10 AU) to the (proto)stars. The comparison of data with gas-grain chemical models of hot cores suggests for G31.41+0.31 an age of a few 10 yr. We also show that only small amounts of CO need to be processed on grains in order for existing hot core gas-grain chemical models to reproduce the observed column densities of glycolaldehyde, making surface reactions the most feasible route to its formation. Detection of the simplest sugar, glycolaldehyde, in a solar-type protostar with ALMA
Glycolaldehyde (HCOCH2OH) is the simplest sugar and an important intermediate in the path toward forming more complex biologically relevant molecules. In this paper we present the first detection of 13 transitions of glycolaldehyde around a solar-type young star, through Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) observations of the Class 0 protostellar binary IRAS 16293-2422 at 220 GHz (6 transitio...
متن کاملThe effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations
Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...
متن کاملSearches for new interstellar molecules, including a tentative detection of aziridine and a possible detection of propenal.
Rotational spectroscopy at millimeter wavelengths is a powerful means of investigating the chemistry of dense interstellar clouds. These regions can exhibit an interesting complement of gas phase molecules, including relatively complex organics. Here we report the tentative first astronomical detection of aziridine (ethylenimine), the possible detection of propenal (acrolein), and upper limits ...
متن کاملMagnetic-Reconnection and Current-Sheet Model for the Radio Arc and Threads in the Galactic Center
We propose a new mechanism to explain the radio Arc and threads in the Galactic Center by current sheets produced by local magnetic shears due to interaction of a moving cloud and the vertical field based on three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamical simulations. Magnetic reconnetion and acceleration of cosmic-ray electrons in the current sheet will result in high contrast of radio emissivity insi...
متن کاملDetection of Sub-TeV gamma-rays from the Galactic Center with the CANGAROO-II telescope
The Galactic Center has been observed with the CANGAROO–II imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope in 2001 and 2002. We detected a statistically significant excess at energies greater than 250GeV. This is the first detection of sub-TeV gamma rays from the Galactic Center region. The signal direction is consistent with the Galactic Center, which includes the massive black hole Sgr A* and superno...
